Description:

The city of Ohrid is located on the north-eastern shores of Lake Ohrid. It extends above and around two main hills, that of the castle and that of Deboj. While the city today has spread into the northern, north-eastern and eastern agricultural fields, it was previously concentrated on and at the foot of the two hills, surrounded by a stone wall. Its biggest attraction is its lake. One of the oldest and deepest in Europe, it attracts not only vacationers but also athletes, fishermen, and scientists. From the castle, there is an extraordinary view of the city, the lake, and the surrounding mountains. Despite suffering from human pollution, especially from the Albanian side, it remains one of the richest attractions of the Balkan Peninsula. As mentioned, the castle is located above the city and on the main hill. The castle has roots in antiquity, but in its current form, it was built by the Bulgarian king Samoil in the 10th century.

Struga is a city and municipality of the same name located in the southwestern part of North Macedonia. The city lies on the northern shores of Lake Ohrid. The Black Drin river, which originates from the lake, passes through the city. Struga has been mentioned since ancient times, as the Roman road Via Egnatia passed nearby.
