Our tour leader will pick you up from your hotel in Tirana. As we drive north through Albania, you will be amazed by beautiful landscapes; wild fields, rivers, Lake Scutari, and rugged pristine mountains. From Scutari, we head towards Theth. As we take the turn from the main road to Theth, the area becomes more rural, with fewer cars but more wild nature and wonderful landscapes. Thanks to its favorable location, this area is famous for the cultivation of medicinal herbs, and if you are lucky to travel between May and June, you will be amazed by the graceful and aromatic lavender fields, making you feel like you are in Provence (France). On the way to the top, we will cross a steep hill that reaches 1700 meters above sea level at Qafa and Thores. They say this is the place with the best photo: perfect view of the Albanian Alps. We will take a short break to refresh ourselves and start our hiking journey to the Blue Eye around noon. Blue Eye was formed by water erosion from the melting snow of the Albanian Alps. The hike takes about 3 hours one way, covering a distance of 6.2 km in each direction and about 700 m of altitude difference. This route is considered from easy to moderate and requires some hiking experience. You won't be able to take your eyes off this splendid scenery of nature with vivid blue and green colors, it will be like being inside a postcard. Also, fun fact, the temperature of the Blue Eye is about 5 degrees Celsius. Would you dare to plunge into the blue but very cold water? Overnight in a traditional Guest House in Theth.
After breakfast, get ready for the hike from Theth to Grunas waterfall. It takes about an hour to reach the waterfall from the center of Theth village. The hike takes you along the daily life of the inhabitants of the local villages and the Kullas (typical stone houses of the Albanian Alps). Once you reach the waterfall, you will be amazed by the white water curtain cascading over the gray rocks as if poured from a never-emptying bucket. The water falls down the slope in a series of mini waterfalls. Grunasi waterfall has been declared a natural monument since 2002. Take some time to immerse yourself in the picturesque landscape of the Albanian Alps. Around noon, we return to Theth. Free afternoon to explore the National Park on your own.
